More rip offs

Today my wife gave me three more coupons from the "moneymailer" today, and there were three companies in them offering SUUUUPER CHEAP duct cleaning.

As you've probably figured, these companies really get on my nerves and here is why.  Two of the three companies are already listed with complaints of false advertising with the Better Business Bureau.  If you don't believe me then go to http://easternnc.bbb.org/ and see for yourself.  Don't let these companies rip you off.  Use a reputable duct cleaning company that is a member of NADCA and has a certified Air System Cleaning Specialist on staff.  They can be found at http://www.nadca.org/ . Even if you don't use Pur-Vent, LLC at http://www.pur-vent.com/ use a NADCA certified company.  That way you can be assured that you are getting the job done right.

As with any industry there are unscrupulous characters and apparantly these people are the ones in duct cleaning.  You get what you pay for in this instance.

$99 What a deal! NOT!!!!

We saw another mailer add today for a duct cleaning company offering duct cleaning for $99 in Wake County.  They seem to be targeting elderly, pregnant and military personel.

People, these companies CANNOT do this work for that amount of money.  It is a bait and switch tactic.  Once they are in your house and halfway done, you will pay anywhere between $500 - $1000 anyway and you may or may not get your ducts cleaned.  Most of these companies are being investigated by the Better Business Bureau. NBC Dateline did an expose' on them.  Watch it here.

Duct Cleaning Scams part 2

Anna and I think that the reason they are targeting military is that they can invoice military personel and have their paychecks garnished.  They don't have any shame.

Please everyone, if you are thinking about getting your ducts cleaned or your dryer vent cleaned.  Make sure that the company is certified by NADCA (the National Air Duct Cleaners Association).  These people are qualified to clean your duct and are held to a higher standard of professionalism.  To see if a company is a member of NADCA go here http://www.nadca.com/ and click on Member Search.

You will save yourself stress, time, and probably money.  Don't be fooled by the $99 specials.
